About the work
“ I always wanted to be a professional comic drawing artist. A dream
that came true! I started my own cartoon studio in 2014 where I worked
with short comics and cartoons. I developed my own unique comic drawing
course of max twelve lessons and teach in schools and after school
programs throughout the Netherlands.

Rames studied art at the cartoon school from Rens Benerink in Amsterdam
and graduated in character design and animation. Rames is inspired by
many classical masters, starting with the great Michelangelo. In the
comic art industry Rames admires the greats : Hal Foster, Jack Kirby,
Jean Giraud Moebius, Servais, Bill Sienkiewicz and many more

The 2 HSV Cartoon Drawing voucher covers students of all ages. This
voucher is for four lessons covering the basics of storytelling in
images with many fun exercises to improve drawing skills. Lessons are 1
hour, and all materials are included (pencil, paper, eraser, ruler, ink,
coloured pencils, watercolor and gouache).

The class starts with the first two lessons as an introduction to image
storytelling, and focuses on the basics of cartoon/ comic drawing.
Lesson three and four are for the student to work on a final piece in
color. Techniques used are fine art techniques in penciling using
different pencil grips, designing, sketching, cross hatching, light and
dark, perspective, composition. Also working with india ink with the
brush, dry brushing, ink pens and finishing with coloring techniques.

The lessons will be at the students home. At the end of these lessons
the student will be able to tell and design a short story with self
drawn images.
